Carolina Hurricanes Zamboni earrings - because it's Hockey Weekend Across America. Although, technically, the Canes use Olympia ice resurfacing machines, not Zams.

It's Hockey Weekend Across America, and of course I've got earrings for that. These are some of my Carolina Hurricanes earrings.

Coeurs-de-Lys

Last year, Valentine's Day, Chinese New Year, Presidents Day, and Mardi Gras all fell within three days of each other, and those three days were also in the middle of the Vancouver Olympics. Imagine me out changing my house flag every few hours!

When my hubby saw these earrings, he figured they would be the solution to my dilemma if Mardi Gras ever fell on Valentine's Day. Well, I just checked, and Mardi Gras will not fall on February 14 until 2040, and then again in 2051 and 2057. Perhaps my grandchildren (or grandnieces or grandnephews for that matter) can fully realize their usefulness.

Mardi Gras doesn't come until March 8 this year. Next year, though, it falls on my birthday!!

I Have a Heart On for V-Day

Still not quite at the end of my heart-shaped earring collection.

Waffle Hearts

These are tarnished, but I never discard earrings, and I think these were made for me by a friend. What I like about them is that they are so obviously made for V-day.

Thinkin' of Lincoln

These are my Lincoln's Birthday/Presidents' Day earrings. I used to also wear them on Tax Day before I moved into a higher tax bracket.

Joan Jett

If I ever have the opportunity to see Joan Jett, I will surely wear these. They are also good for dark and lonely holidays.

It Starts with Hearts

I know it's several days until Valentine's Day yet, but I have lots of heart earrings to share, as you can see. I've had most of these probably since junior high.

A Fan of Black Cats

Is it too early to think about next year? Not that I'm big into football, but my primary team, instilled in me at birth, is the Pittsburgh Steelers. Being a lifelong resident of North Carolina, though, I suppose I can also pull for the Carolina Panthers. Their lair is a few hours down the road a ways, but it helps that their mascot is a black cat.

Are You Ready for Some Footballs?

If I didn't really care which team won tomorrow, I would be wearing these earrings on Super Bowl Sunday. But I do care, so I have more specialer ones than these planned for tomorrow.

Ear Helmet

I have a hard time photographing such tiny earrings with the iPhone, but if you can't tell, these are a football and a helmet. These would be "super" earrings for this Sunday, if I didn't already have some other ones I'll be wearing instead.

When I bought these black earrings in the 80s, I didn't really think of them as fortune cookies, but I guess they are. I was thinking more like Pac Men at the time. But that was before I had real Pac Man earrings.
